Cancer is a genetic cell mutation process gone awry. It is all about cell degeneration due to cell oxidation.
Oxidation happens when simple oxygen atoms in our molecules loss their partner electron. What the 'aggrieved' (oxygen) atom does is to seek out, or steal, another oxygen atom from other molecules to replace the pair it lost. The process repeats as the oxygen atom missing its pair steals yet again for the same reason. Oxygen atoms with unpaired (or missing) electrons are known as free radicals.

"But the most common cancers projected to turn up this year, 2016, according to the National Cancer Institute in Maryland, USA are breast cancer, lung and bronchus cancer, prostate cancer, colon and rectum cancer, bladder cancer, melanoma of the skin, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, thyroid cancer, kidney and renal pelvis cancer, leukemia, endometrial cancer, and pancreatic cancer," says a recent study.
In its finding, the World Health Organization, tagged tobacco use as the top risk factor for cancer as it accounted to about 20% deaths globally. 70% of it to lung cancer; second, to cancer-causing viral infections at 20%, and the remaining 'cancers' divided among the 5 leading behavioral-dietary risk factors like high body mass index (BMI), low fruit/vegetable intake, sedentary lifestyle, tobacco,and alcohol use.
Surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy are just some of today's traditional protocols for cancer management. But, like any other treatments, they have risks as well. Nothing is essentially hundred percent guaranteed to work. Cancer can remiss, or relapse, without warning.
The unpredictability of cancer makes it difficult to pinpoint with accuracy how it reacts to treatment. Sometimes even the 'fixes' give birth to other health problems.
Professor Mel Greaves, an expert in childhood leukemia, opines: "Developing more advanced cures would only lead to cancer cells becoming more resistant to treatment." He believes that experts should center on prevention.
